How to Deal With Frustration as a Solo Entrepreneur (Without Giving Up)

Grow your frustration. Plant seeds that matches your problems

Running a business alone sounds exciting.

Freedom. Flexibility. Being your own boss.

Until you’re sitting there, staring at your screen, wondering why nothing is working.

No traffic.
No sales.
Pins that don’t click.
Links that suddenly don’t work.

And you start thinking… maybe this just isn’t for me.

But here’s the thing no one talks about enough:

Frustration is part of building a business.

Not a sign that you’re failing.

Just a sign that you’re in it.

The difference between people who quit and people who keep going is not talent. It’s not luck.

It’s how they handle those frustrating moments.

Sometimes the best thing you can do is take a step back. Not quit. Not give up. Just pause. Go do something completely unrelated. Your brain needs space to reset before it can solve anything.

Music helps more than people think. Put on something that changes your mood, not something that matches it. You’re not trying to stay in the frustration. You’re trying to move out of it.

If you feel stuck, change your environment. If you’re in Europe, go for a walk or sit at a café and watch people pass by. Make up stories about their lives. It sounds simple, but it shifts your focus away from your own thoughts.

If you’re in the US, maybe skip the long walk and create your own reset moment instead. Take a bath, light a candle, step away from the screen, or just sit quietly for a few minutes. You don’t always need a solution. Sometimes you just need a pause.

Another underrated trick is learning something new. Join a short online workshop or listen to a motivational talk. Not to overwhelm yourself, but to remind yourself why you started.

And then there’s the slightly unusual one.

The “plant your frustration” method.

Take a few small pots and plant some seeds. While you’re doing it, give each pot a name.

One could be “Pinterest frustration.”
Another “technical problems.”
And maybe one called “slow sales.”

It might sound a little silly, but there’s something powerful about turning frustration into something physical. You’re not just sitting with it. You’re doing something with it.

And then you let it grow.

Over time, those seeds turn into something completely different. Something calm. Something alive.

A small reminder that things take time.

That not everything happens instantly.

And that growth is often invisible in the beginning.

Because that’s the truth about building a business.

You won’t see results right away.
You will feel frustrated.
You will question yourself.

But none of that means it’s not working.

It just means you’re in the process.

It reminds me of something we used to say in a group I’m part of.
The group is called “Bamboo Shoots,” but we jokingly call ourselves “Bamboo Shooters.”
Because sometimes it feels like nothing is happening…
until suddenly, everything starts to grow.

So take a break when you need to.
Reset.
Breathe.
And then come back.

Not perfect. Just consistent.

You’re not behind.
You’re growing roots.
